The race, organized by U.C. Ceresarese, is dedicated to the memory of Vincenzo Mantovani, founder, with his brother Claudio, of the Moa Sport company and winner, among other things, of the Olympic silver medal in the team pursuit in Tokyo 1964.
Lorenzo Anniballi, standard bearer of Solme Olmo, won the race held on the Mantua streets of Castel d’Ario, preceding Antonio Bonaldo (Sc Padovani) in second place. While the home athlete Damiano Lavelli (Gc Sissio Team) completed the podium in third place.
A vibrant race organized by the Unione Ciclistica Ceresarese led by Simone Pezzini, which registered at the start one hundred and eighty-one athletes divided into thirty-three formations. Many attacks proposed at the head of the race, all controlled closely by the group and especially by the teams with the most quoted sprinters in their ranks for a compact-rank solution. Attempting to break this balance in the final were the Ukrainian Andrii Zozulia (Ukraine National Team) with the Italians Eric Venturini (Overall Tre Colli) and Lorenzo Marangoni (Solme Olmo). Then Raffaele Veneri (Gc Sissio) and Manuel Dovesi (Goodshop Yoyogurt) alone. All caught up by the group that in the final sprint recorded the clear success of Lorenzo Anniballi, who gave the victory to Solme Olmo, preceding Bonaldo and Lavelli in that order at the finish line.
Against the backdrop of the Castle and the Fortress, symbols of the history of Castel d’Ario, the first three classified athletes and the winner’s team were awarded. To give them credit Claudio Mantovani, owner of the event who delivered the bust dedicated to his brother Vincenzo to Solme Olmo, the mayor of Castel d'Ario Daniela Castro with the deputy Mara Spanevello, Simone Pezzini as president of the Ceresarese Cycling Union, the representatives of the Italian Cycling Federation with the president of the Lombardy committee Stefano Pedrinazzi, the regional councilor Adriano Roverselli and the category technical manager Gabriele Peruzzo, the provincial president of Mantua Fausto Armanini with the councilor Giovanni Comparin and Corrado Lodi.
True emotions in the words of the guests present, from Claudio Mantovani's thanks to Simone Pezzini's summary. "A long and demanding race that exalted the boys, capable of honoring it from the first kilometers. A special thanks to the Mantovani family and to all those who worked to create what is in all respects a classic of Easter Eve".
